All our Japanese hairdressers speak English and are trained to Japanese Government standards in hairdressing. We’d love to see you and we offer all the usual hairdressing services but with that Japanese twist!

What makes Japanese Hairdressers different?

It’s all in the training!

Unlike many other countries, UK included, we have to go through a rigorous training period to call ourself a Japanese hairdresser. We need a license issued by the Japanese Government before we can start cutting hair. The training period is usually for 2 years during which we take theory exams learning about the anatomy of hair amongst other things.

Then we have to go through a year of practical work experience in a salon before we can be issued with a license. We work very hard after that, gaining expertise from our mentors and improving our skills so we can earn the status of a Junior stylist. All that training, exams, hard work and experience and we’re still a junior! It takes a good few more years before we can rise up the ranks which is why most Japanese hairdressers will be in their mid 20′s before they can call themselves a success.

Quite a contrast to the training used here in the UK!
